DIY PUZZLE for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Toddlers love exploring puzzle especially once they reach the 18-month mark.  Today I am going to show you how to make a DIY PUZZLE for Toddlers and Preschoolers. My son started showing interest in puzzles when he was around 18-19 months old. We initially did big chunky puzzles then moved to peg puzzles and finally puzzles without images at the back but with just image outline.

Continuing our journey on puzzles I decided to make this simple DIY 2 part puzzle. I wanted to have a shapes activity for my son and this puzzle was a perfect fit for our shapes themed shelf.

Materials needed

  1. A piece of cardboard ( cut some from the shipping box and cover it with white paper).
  2. Sketch pens
  3. Scissors
  4. White paper
  5. Colored Stock paper or thick colored paper
  6. Velcro
  7. Glue

Homemade puzzles can be made out of many materials around the house like greeting cards, newspaper, cereal boxes etc. You can tailor make puzzles based on your child’s ability and interest levels.
